To be or not to be, sometimes it is not a question
Have not been updating here for some while. It is not that I don;t want to , but the internet connection here is really so retarded that I have difficulties in even logging into blogger.com from time to time. May be blogger should set up a basic version for people with slower connections.
So, let me update you a bit on what has happened since the last blog message( i try to upload a few pics here.... there are SOOOO many that I wanna upload but connection is too slow to be greedy on that). For the rest of the first we ek, we had our nepali class in the morning. In the afternoon, we visted various places . On the first thursday , we visited the OCRC orphanage, which is an orphanage in butapur (a city just next to kathmandu) under VSN sponsorship.
The kids are really cute and active and they simply dash into you when they see you. On the other hand, you cannot help thinking that they all have a hard life before and after this... and this probably would not end unless education is developed properly. Each and every kid in the place probably have a tearful story to tell. And may be, we , those who life in privilage, should think of them when we waste so much in life
Anyway, in the first weekend, we went to Nagarkott. Nagarkott is a famous holiday place in Kathmandu Valley beca use in there you can overlook the whole kathmandu valley and you can also see the sunrise coming out from Himalaya range. Fortunately, we managed to get good suite overlooking in the whole mountain range with a very good price (around HKD300 for all six of us) . We woke up at 3 the next day and trekked up to the view point for the sunrise. And I can tell you this is a really spectacular view. A nd also the Valley--- the valley and spur and river and so on. Simply amazing. Anyway, I think photo speaks better. So I will leave it for you all to see. ( oh... but I can only upload 2 pics so far, so I promise to upload more and more later)

Day 2 (5/5)

Yesterday woke up at 630. Dun Laugh! People here wake at this time. In fact most people wake at 4 sth so we are already pretty late. First night of sleep was not too good with the dogs barking and new bed. Well, I guess I will do better and better.
Went for a small walk around the community before morning meal. This is indeed a middle class area with not too muc transport. There is a football field nearby where people also do yoga 430 in the morning. Kids are playing real good... Will try to play with them some time later.
After morning meal, which was Daal Baat, meaning rice with beans (and also some curry vegetables and prickled stuff), we went for outr first nepalise class.... This is so fun! Thanks to Gyaaneedra, our nepalise teacher, we could speak very very vvvvv basic nepalise at the end of the class.
Mero naam Eric ho means my name is eric.
dhanyabaad (which actually sounds like foul language) means thank you.
Well, let me show off more later.
After class we went to Pushupatinath, a very famous temple in Hindu. We saw ppl burial ceremony by burning dead bodies at the river bank on our way there. They then dump the ashes in the river and let the river bring them to god. This is environmentally friendly lol.
It was pouring when we get to the temple so we didn;t stay long.
After that we tasted Samosa, which is an Indian snack.... some how like..... fried spring rool skin wrapping potato curry etc.... which is pretty tasty. We also tried "jelli" which is a sweat stuff made by sugar. They really like sweat stuff here!!! If I stay longer, I must get daibetes when I leave.
Ytd was also the mother's day in Nepal, so we bought sth back on my way back for the mother of the host , Soba. And she was so happy !!!!
However, on our way back, there was a huge traffic jam so that we had to walk for an hour to get back to our houses. Not a tidy experience, but must be an adventure that I will miss some years later.
At night, there is nothing much to do here... normal people sleep around 9-10 pm latest.... so we went back to the room, planned our weekend and retired early.
p.s. this place isn;t as clean/organised etc.. as HK... But somehow, the close link between peeople and the place is sth pretty charming.....And the people are really hospitable! I will try to upload some picture later, but connection is slow so I cannot promise...

Nemaste
So after almost a YEAR of planning, we are finally here in this nation of mountains.
Somehow, being here itself is amazing.....
Still trying to get to the routines, time, time concept, FOOD, SLEEP etc....
Time for morning meals now, so I shall stop here.... and perhaps finish this blog later in the day..
